Boris Johnson has resigned from Parliament after being accused of misleading British MPs

Former U.K Prime Minister Borish Johnson

FormerUK Prime Minister Boris Johnson was forced to resign as a member of Parliament on Friday, multiple outlets reported, after a report indicated he would be sanctioned for misleading Britain's House of Commons for his role in the so-called Partygate scandal. He was the British Prime Minister at that time.

Real fact
Boris Johnson, who has served as a British MP since resigning as prime minister last summer,is accused of misleading MPs by lying about flouting the country's Covid-era restrictions by partying at 10 Downing Street - he has previously misled Parliament. He admitted to doing it,but he said he didn't do it intentionally.
Johnson denied the allegations in a statement, saying Britain's Commons Privileges Committee, which commissioned the report, had "not produced a shred of evidence"that he knowingly misled parliament, and Johnson branded the committee a"kangaroo court".
Johnson, who has been an MP since 2001,said he received the report"much to [his] surprise,"arguing that when he spoke in the House of Commons he was"saying what [he] sincerely believed to be true and what [He] was called like any other minister.

Original background
Johnson's time as Prime Minister was marred by scandal, particularly after leaked photographs in June 2020 revealed that he had thrown parties at the Prime Minister's residence on Downing Street in London, including a birthday party for 30 invitees,in violation of Britain's strict Covid-19 gathering restrictions.Johnson authorized an investigation into"PartyGate"in December 2021 and was fined the equivalent of $62 for attending a birthday party, saying he did not believe it constituted a "party",though his public image only worsened from there.54 with conservatives.Members of the House of Commons wrote a letter last June saying they had no confidence in Johnson because of Partygate,as well as concerns about his economic policies. He survived a vote of no confidence by Conservative MPs that same day, although,as pressure to resign mounted,he resigned a day later amid expulsions from members of his own party.

Conclusion
Johnson has remained active in politics since resigning as prime minister last summer, and in October his campaign claimed he had the necessary support from Conservative MPs to make a political comeback to become prime minister. At the time, 50 MPs publicly announced their support for him.Johnson, however, did not formally announce a bid for Prime Minister, setting the stage for Conservative MP and former finance minister Rishi Sunak to be appointed Prime Minister by King Charles III,replacing Liz Truss, who had held the post for less than two months.
